Need some good tips on making a high school golf team.?

the best score i have posted is a 79 however it just isnt the same in tournaments(89) Where i live we get a ton of snow and dont have anywhere indoors or outdoors to practice. I LOVE GOLF and during the summer practice for at least 6 hours a day. I need good tips to keep from getting rusty this winter,and to be on top of my game when tournaments start

You can do a couple of things.

I totally get the fact that you can’t play year round because of the snow but you will need to

1) stay in shape. This is a must. It’s proven that physical fitness helps with mental strength during competition. Eat well and cut all the soda’s out of your life water water water.

2) Setup a practice area (this can be a small place in your basement or garage). Watch tips from the best & top instructors. Try these tips in your practice area. Remember that short game is 90% of scoring, driving is just for show. Instructors have tips that you can practice with out really hitting a ball, but a golf net in your home practice area (ask santa for one) will help you continue to practice without having to go outside.

3) Watch for the new season of tours and when those events start. Yes they will start earlier than you think. If you don’t have any exemptions you won’t be able to play in the AJGA but that is OK because there are over 89 Junior Golf tours and over 1300 Junior Golf tournaments across the country per year. I am sure there are several in your area that are reasonable too. This helps you learn how to stay mentally tough during a tournament round. It sounds like you already have game (shooting in the 70′s) you just need to pair that with mental toughness. Focus on playing in 2 to 3 day events then when you play high school it will be much easier and you will be surprised how well you do!
