Is there a temporary fix to a hole in a window?

Stuff was being moved around and something fell and wound up Putting a golf ball sized hole in one of the windows in my apartment. It’s winter in New England which means its mighty cold outside. I can’t afford a new window right now, is there something cheaper I can do untill i get some money together?

As stated by the others, taping on both sides of the glass, is your best bet short term. However, if it’s really cold the tape may not hold for long or very well.

If you have a couple of magnets and two pieces of stiff plastic (like the top to a coffee can), put a piece of plastic on each side of the hole and hold it in place with the magnets. So, you’ll have a sandwich of magnet, plastic, hole, plastic and magnet. Works pretty good, I’ve used it a couple of times.

Without knowing your window size or type of glass, I couldn’t even guess the cost accurately. But a stab in the dark would be in the neighborhood of $12.00. Thats what I paid to replace a 20″ x 20″ window in my garage a couple weeks ago.
