I am 14 years old and my handicap is 12. Do I have potential to be a Pga Tour Professional?
My driving distance is 270 yards, I am good at long irons such as 2,3,4 .Please tell me can I be a USPGA Tour Professional?
Yes, you have strong potential. Now you must remain committed to develop your talent fully. Remember that the PGA is not a “go out and play golf” career. It is practice, practice, practice forever.
You also need to recognize that getting to the Tour is very difficult. The competition is extremely fierce. There are thousands of people that can shoot scratch golf, and hundreds of them are competing to get a spot on the Tour.
Golf is a “pay for performance” career. The only way to make money and move up the PGA is to beat everybody else. You must be an amateur Champion or the top player in one of the smaller tours before you can qualify to try for The Pga Tour. It’s win or starve.
That makes it a high pressure game. You must develop your game to be able to shoot under par regularly, then develop your mind to be able to do it under the pressure of tournament conditions.
There are hundreds of guys that spend years trying to win on the smaller tours, but never make it.
Follow your dreams! But keep in mind that it is a long shot that you will get to the PGA Tour. Have a backup plan for your life’s work.
Try to get good enough in high school that your can get a golf scholarship to college. Then finish your degree so that you have a backup for your career in case the PGA doesn’t work out.
Good Luck
