How much distance can one gain from switching his golf clubs from cavity backs to blades???
I HAVE THE MIZUNO MX-23′S AND WOULD LIKE TO SWITCH TO THE mp 60 OR mp67′S. HOW WOULD THIS AFFECT MY DISTANCE SAY WITH A SIX IRON THAT WITH THE MX 23′S CARRIES 165 YARDS.
It shouldn’t have an effect on distance, but I have to disagree with the post above (Hazeltine4) because you don’t lose accuracy with blades, you lose forgiveness. If anything you GAIN accuracy with blades, due to the fact that you can now more effectively control distance, trajectory, and spin, along with better workability. They also have superior feel and better feedback than a cavity back could ever hope for.
I would warn, however, that if you don’t hit your current irons dead center 95% of the time and play golf at least 2-3 times a week, I would say that blades are a bad investment. Blades lose a significant amount of distance and accuracy if hit just slightly off-center, and you will feel it in your hands. Blades punish you if you hit a bad shot. Recreational golfers will be better off sticking to cavity back irons.
