Who was the first African American golf champion to tour the PGA circuit?

According to this site:
North Carolinian Charlie Sifford was the first African-American golfer to receive full Pga Tour status, in March 1960; the PGA formally dropped from its constitution in 1961 the “Caucasians-only” clause. Sifford had already become the first African-American golfer to win a PGA sanctioned event, the Long Beach Open, in 1957; he would subsequently win two Open victories in Hartford (1967) and Los Angeles (1969).
